Almost 70 years after the first of it’s kind was presented to the streets, the SL is back. The Mercedes-AMG SL 55 4Matic+ was designed by AMG in Affalterbach and is inspired by the legendary 300 SL Gullwing – even though, being a roadster it does not share the iconic Gullwing doors with its ancestor.
To start off, the 2022 SL is available in two options: the SL 55 representing a more luxurious variant and the SL 63 being the more sporty and aggressive option. Even though the more powerful option would better match the legacy of the original SL models, we decided to go with the luxurious variant as the high-class interior seemingly matches the elegant exterior lines of the car. Interesting to know is that even though the SL 55 is ought to be the more luxurious option, it does not feature active ride control.
